Sept 2017: President’s Note

I truly can’t believe that summer is almost over and fall is upon us! Fall is a wonderful season, full of beautiful hues, warm apple cider, bountiful harvests, and that ever-familiar autumn crisp in the air.

Reflecting back on DSTA summer events, there is a lot to talk about!
Our July golf outing was once again a huge success, despite having fewer golfers than in previous years. Thank goodness for sunny weather and an abundance of spare golf balls! Thanks to all that participated, as this event provides most of the funding for DSTA annual operations (including our annual holiday gathering).

The Family Fun Outing aboard the Sundew in August was a huge hit with over 100 members, friends and family in attendance. The weather looked questionable early that day, however it cleared up in time to cruise the harbor/lake with the sun shining down on us all. A huge “Thank You” to Jeff and Toni for sharing the Sundew and her crew with us for the evening!

Looking forward, our second annual DSTA “Fall into Fitness Challenge” will commence on Monday, September 25th, which will once again be spearheaded by Miriam Hanson, Jeff Foster Trucking’s Health and Wellness Advocate. The “Lean Queens” from Halvor Lines were the winning team in 2016 and lost 4.35% of their body weight. The top three teams lost a total of 118.5 pounds! Please attend our September 20th meeting at The Epic Restaurant in Superior, as Miriam will fill us in on details for this year’s challenge.

In closing, take care and stay safe!
Until next month…
